    Matt is the Manager, Project Management Support Group for for Technical Publications in the Weapon Systems Sustainment & Modernization organization; Northrop Grumman Technology Services. He manages four cross-functional departments consisting of Quality Control/Assurance, Publications Analytics & Coordination, Technical Illustrations & Graphic Arts, and Systems Engineering.

    His previous assignments included working with the Northrop Grumman Technical Training Management System (TTMS) at Northrop Grumman Information Technology in Biloxi, Mississippi in 2004. Later, Matt was part of the Sector Communications team (2006) and the State & Local Government Relations team (2007) at Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, Mississippi. In 2006, Matt was recognized with the US Coast Guard DEEPWATER Excellence Award.

    Matt served in the United States Air Force as an Intelligence Operations Specialist, concentrating in Enemy Weapons Systems and pilot defensive countermeasure and counter-tactics. Matt is also a CY19 US Navy Direct Commission Officer Candidate.

    Organizational Development & Community Outreach

    Matt is a key workplace equality stakeholder and has been instrumental in bringing organizational change, awareness, and education on LGBT issues at the Northrop Grumman St. Augustine Aircraft Integration Center of Excellence and lead Northrop Grumman’s participation in the Greater Jacksonville Area HIV/AIDS Awareness Get Inspired 6K Walk/Run in 2014, 2015, and 2016.  Matt worked close with the Corporate Diversity & Inclusion team, employees, and LGBT allies to bring about Northrop Grumman’s first virtual employee resource group (ERG) chapter in October 2015, the Technology Services Virtual PrIDA Chapter.  As the TS Virtual PrIDA Chair, Matt worked with Technology Services employees, allies, and leadership globally to help foster an inclusive environment, improve quality of life at work for LGBT workers and allies, build awareness, and engage in community support, corporate responsibility and outreach. Matt has also been a company representative at the annual Human Rights Campaign National Dinner in Washington, D.C. since 2014 and was a key presenter at the 2016 Out & Equal Workplace Summit in Orlando, FL and the 2018 Out & Equal Workplace Summit in Seattle, WA.


    Matt was born to Rick and Charlotte McCary in Fairfield, California and has an older sister, Amanda. Matt's father retired from the United States Air Force at Captain (O-3) and served over 20 years on active duty service.  His father also later retired from DuPont after a 20-year career as a chemical operator.  Matt's mother retired from the casino gaming industry as a purchasing manager in 2015.  Matt grew up as a military family member, having lived in California, Georgia, Texas, South Dakota, Guam, and Mississippi.  He graduated from d'Iberville High School in d'Iberville, Mississippi in 1997 and joined the United States Air Force in 1998.  Matt was Honorably Separated from the Air Force in February 2000 under the Clinton Administration's, "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy.  Matt later went on to establishing a career with the Northrop Grumman Corporation and later earned three master's degrees and a graduate level certification.  Matt has studied at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, Ashford University, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and Webster University.

    Matt is married to David, and they will celebrate 18 years together in October 2019 as well as their six-year wedding anniversary.  David is a retired US Navy Chief Hospital Corpsman.  They were married in Salem, Massachusetts in 2013, shortly following the repeal of "Don't Ask Don't Tell", because same-sex marriage was not legal in the State of Florida at the time.  They have lived in Orange Park, FL for nearly ten years and love to travel.  They have a daughter, Marrissa, who is an Engineering Aide in the United States Navy, a son, DJ, who is serving in the U.S. Air Force, and a Boston Terrier, Bree.
